Simple Vegan Golden Milk
If you’ve never tried Golden Milk, you’re totally missing out! It’s creamy, decadent, and comforting. This warming drink is a great way to enjoy one of the most anti-inflammatory spices out there, turmeric.
Native to India, turmeric comes from the dried root of the Curcuma longa plant. It gives curry its signature colour, but don’t be scared! It has a similar spice level to cinnamon.
Plant Power
Turmeric is one of the most medically studied spices, with thousands of studies referencing turmeric. Many studies have shown that turmeric’s active compound, curcumin, is more beneficial at reducing pain and inflammation than pharmaceuticals.
Here are a few of turmerics amazing benefits:
- Powerful anti-inflammatory
- Soothes digestive issues like constipation, IBS, and IBD
- Prevents and kills cancer cells
- Reduces arthritic pain
- Detoxifies the body
- Effective in managing depression
- Naturally promotes weight loss
Warming + Nourishing
Turmeric on its own is incredibly nourishing to the body, but the additional spices and optional boosters really amp up the nutrition factor.
- Cinnamon, ginger, and cardamom are not only warming to the body but also boost the immune system and soothe the digestive system.
- Hemp hearts provide protein, good essential fats, and fibre.
- Coconut oil is a source of good fats that the body uses as fuel.
I love pairing this with my Super Chewy Paleo Cookies for the perfect afternoon snack (or healthy breakfast!). Try it out and post your Golden Milk on Instagram – don’t forget to tag me @katiestewartwellness so I can see your creation!
