Detox your body with coffee. But not by drinking it. 😉

Coffee scrubs are my absolute favourite. They have an incredible myriad of benefits. Let’s go through them, shall we?

  1. Exfoliates dead skin to help unclog your pores.
  2. Skin is your biggest detox organ, it’s important to keep these pores clean and open so the body can flush toxins out.
  3. Encourage better circulation of bodily fluids, which further aids in detoxification.
  4. Scrubbing away those dead cells reveals new, healthy skin underneath too.
  5. Caffeine found in coffee scrubs can increase blood flow, help regenerate the skin, and reduce cellulite.
  6. Caffeine’s also a vasodilator, it tightens and firms blood vessels — aka smooth skin for you.

Alright, so if you’ve followed me for any length of time you know my recipes are totally sugar-free. But, I can’t deny how amazing it is in body scrubs.

  1. Granules help exfoliate to remove flaky skin cells and brighten skin.
  2. Natural source of glycolic acid (aka alpha hydroxy acids) which helps to break down dead skin cells and encourage fresh cell turnover.
  3. Discourages ingrown hairs
  4. Natural humectant — draws moisture from the environment into your skin. Helps lock in moisture and keep skin hydrated.

More than just an aroma.

You may think that the essential oils in this detoxifying coffee scrub just give a nice aroma to it (which they totally do). But I’ve actually selected them for their benefits to the skin.

  • Lavender: used to reduce the appearance of skin imperfections and irritations.
  • Juniper Berry: acts as a natural skin toner and powerful detoxifier.

Yields 2 cups

  • 1 cup ground organic coffee
  • ½ cup coconut sugar or coarse sea salt
  • ¾ cup cold-pressed oil of choice (coconut, jojoba, avocado, olive oil, etc)
  • 15 drops each lavender and juniper berry essential oils


  1. Combine ingredients in a small bowl and pour into a glass jar (I use a short wide-mouth mason jar).
  2. Apply on wet skin and gently rub in circles.
